Conquering Fears!
Yesterday, Maren and I took the kids to the rec center in Washington for the first time. We were there for four hours! It was awesome fun. Maren, may have a little different story on her blog. She had the crappy, trial enduring, patient testing day up to the rec center, then fun, then more trial enduring after rec center. I am thrilled that she endured, because it would not have been near as fun without her and her kids. I don't have any photos, because I don't take my camera to public water places. I have really bad luck losing/breaking things. Water parks, where you can't wear the camera around you to keep it safe, just don't work for me. They do for Maren and I will hopefully post some later. Now for the conquering fears. Somehow, Karly talked me into taking her on the waterslide. Up to this point, my hair really had not gotten too wet, still feelin like the cute mom at the pool. Why I took her is beyond me. Maybe because I want to be the mom's cool friend! Anyway, that is beside the point. We are waiting in line and about three people away from our turn, I realize this slide is tiny. The adults going down it look pretty cramped. I am claustrophobic and all of the sudden it kicks in. The world is closing in, my heart is beating fast, I am getting hot and I am not even on the dang slide yet. What do I do, tell Karly sorry, your mom's cool friend is a big whimp! NOT! So I cowgirl up and am talking myself out of freaking out all the way down the slide. Problem is I promised two more kids I would take them. Thank goodness my Lexi freaked out halfway up the stairs, turned around and went back down. So I only had to suck it up one more time. I WILL NOT be going on that slide again. It was a great day of fun and we will definitely be returning as often as possible.

You go girl! I am just exactly like you and totally come unhinged when when faced with going in to anything cramped...especially a waterslide! You are awesome for doing that and proving to the kids that even tho you are scared, it still can be done! Sounds like you had a great time! Thank you for telling me about your primary day with Lexi, you must have been totally beaming! I would have cried too, its just soo incredibly sweet to hear the mouths of children utter spiritual words, there is nothing like it. Primary is awesome!! :) Yay for your kids and their great memorizing!
Good job. I know you hate confined spaces, so it is impressive you didn't freak out or pass out in the middle of the ride. That really would have been classic! Way to be the cool friend mom!
I am sure you came away with the cool friends mom award! They needed to make that slide just a little bigger so grown ups can acutually sit up in it. (and don't get claustrophobic in it). Call me next time you go, we would love to join you!
Go girl...be that cool mom! I'm proud of you and I think you're cool:)
I had no idea! Why didn't you tell be BEFORE you went down? I would have been happy to take my own daughter down the dang slide! Instead you were the cool mom and went not once but 2 times. You are amazing! Thanks for an awesome day!
I want to know, did the seams of the slide hurt your butt as you went down? :) HE HE! No, seriously? Oh, and tell Brady that Twizzlers are red, just like my little red horsey, and roans are ugly :) ha ha ha, cackle cackle cackle
